Elizabeth: Monthly Goal Check-In

goal-setting-imageWelcome to the Eight Ladies Writing monthly goal-setting / holding-each-other-accountable post. I was having so much fun working on my new story these past few weeks that I almost forgot all about this.

Almost.

I’m sure you’re glad I remembered. Right?

We know from yesterday’s post that Justine is busy with another writing class and Nancy told us Monday all about the lessons she learned while watching her now-favorite TV series, the FX channel’s Justified. Now it’s time for the rest of us to chime in.

I’ll go first.

My specific goal for September was to complete the four scenes that I knew were missing from my story (one scene a week). So – good news / bad news on that. Turns out completing the four scenes caused me to take a look at the surrounding scenes, which led to some revising, which in turn led to a couple of changes in some key points which, you guessed it, means there are some more changes needed to take care of some loose ends and to fix a couple of continuity problems.

I’m on it though.

So, the goal for October is to finish the revisions. I have extra incentive to make sure that happens, since NaNoWriMo starts next month and I want to have this story done and off in a drawer somewhere so I can focus on my brand-new story. Fingers crossed on that.

Now it’s your turn.   For those of you who made writing plans for September – how did those go? Did you wind up with new words, finished stories, or completed (and sent) query letters? Inquiring minds want to know.

What are your (specific and achievable) goals for the October? What can we hold you accountable for?
