Elizabeth: Friday Story Time and Sprints

According to the sign at the local Starbucks today, Pumpkin Spice Lattes – the quintessential sign of fall – will be arriving in 5 days.

Really?

If you’re a fan of Pumpkin Spice Lattes perhaps you’ve been anxiously awaiting the announcement, but I’m not and am in no hurry for the seasons to change any more quickly than they already do.   It feels like this year has flown by, leaving my well-laid plans for all the things I was going to accomplish by the wayside.  I need all the time I can get to get back on track; no matter how tempting curling up with a festive warm beverage and a good book sounds.

The only book I should be curling up with, based on those aforementioned missed deadlines, is the manuscript I was supposed to have finished revising several weeks ago.  (I blame Georgette Heyer for the delay!)

After I get home from work today, but before I dig into those revisions, I think I’ll do a little creativity-warm-up using the writing prompt and random words below.

Elizabeth: Friday Story Time and Sprints

This has been an odd week, what with the US 4th of July right smack in the middle.  We may have been celebrating our nation’s independence, but I really think of it as a holiday celebrating some really good collaborative writing.

I hope you’ve had a good week, whatever yours involved.  Mine will be ending with more of a whimper than a bang, due in part to an 8:00am meeting.  Who schedules 8:00am meetings on a Friday?  Probably the same people who schedule them at 5:00pm.

Anyway, once things are wrapped up a Ye Olde Day Job, I’ll be heading home for a relaxing adult beverage (or maybe a root-beer float) and then heading off to Ye Olde Writing Desk for some quality (or maybe quantity) writing time.  I think I’ll start off with today’s writing prompt and see what happens from there.
