Elizabeth: Friday Writing Sprint

Is it Friday again?  I think someone must have stolen a few days out of this past week.  Daylight Savings Time starts here at 2:00am Sunday morning, which means the weekend will be an hour shorter than usual.  I much prefer the “Fall-back” portion of Daylight Savings rather than the “Spring-ahead”, but it is nice having more daylight at the end of the workday, so . . . always a bright side (so to speak).

No day off for me this week, though I have been trying to remember to log off of the work computer before dinner-time, rather than doing “just one more thing” over and over and missing dinner completely.  I’ve even found the time to finish some craft projects in recent days–one was a baby blanket that I made and then unraveled and started again several times.  Now I’m working on transforming a pile of material scraps into a quilt, all part of my effort to streamline the collection of craft-supplies that has accumulated in the garage through the decades.   At this rate I should be done about a week before the end of time . . . as long as I stay away from the craft stores.

Somewhere between the day job, the quilt projects, and a handful of meetings I think I’ll take a break, enjoy the plants blooming in the yard, and then give today’s writing prompt and random words a try.

Care to join me?

For those of you working away on a story (whether a first draft or a polished version on its way to publication), if you’re not feeling random, we’d love to hear a bit – whether it’s a scene, a paragraph, or even a phrase that you are especially pleased with and would like to share.

If you don’t have a story in progress, or just want to work on something new, I hope either today’s random words or writing prompt will catch your creative fancy.

Ready?

Prompt:   A change of plans.

Feel free to interpret the prompt any way you choose (or ignore it completely) and include any (or all) of the following random words:

aversion          tiger                glow              detachable

general            bedtime         beehive          float

liquor              gravel              blame            gate

seed                children           mirror            disconnect

I look forward to seeing your stories in the comments.  If you’re not feeling in the writing mood today, or don’t have time, feel free to post suggestions you might have for future writing prompts.  Ideas are always welcome.

Happy writing to all!
