Happy Friday. For those of you who have been celebrating “Dry January”, the end is in sight! I have friends who have been following “No Sugar January”, “Meat-Free January”, and even “Juice-Fast January” (not all at once). That kind of sounds like “No Fun January” to me, though to each their own.
I have been gloriously resolution-free so far this year, enjoying sugar, meat, and even the occasional adult beverage–in moderation, of course. My choices might make a dietician cringe, but I’m still spending time on the elliptical, so I figure things will all balance out. Probably.
These past few weeks I have been enjoying watching Jeopardy and the current long-term winner (who just happens to be from my area of the state). I am often amazed at just how much I don’t know, but I do get a kick out of those rare instances when I know the answer to the final Jeopardy question and the contestants do not.
Now that today’s episode is over, I can focus on wrapping up the work week. January is a busy time at the day job (oh, who am I kidding–every month is a busy time), but once I’m off the clock I’ll be giving today’s writing prompt and random words a try.
Care to join me?
For those of you working away on a story (whether a first draft or a polished version on its way to publication), if you’re not feeling random, we’d love to hear a bit – whether it’s a scene, a paragraph, or even a phrase that you are especially pleased with and would like to share.
If you don’t have a story in progress, or just want to work on something new, I hope either today’s random words or writing prompt will catch your creative fancy.
Ready?
Prompt: Is that edible?
Feel free to interpret the prompt any way you choose (or ignore it completely) and include any (or all) of the following random words:
early house eating seducer
graceful dent hunk rapid
buzz enterprise legendary grill
apple wish mission pinch
I look forward to seeing your stories in the comments. If you’re not feeling in the writing mood today, or don’t have time, feel free to post suggestions you might have for future writing prompts. Ideas are always welcome.
Happy writing to all!
