Happy “World Kebab Day” (if you’re reading this on July 9th) as well as “National Sugar Cookie Day.” Now if only there was something beverage-related on the list, you’d almost have a meal.
Looking outside, it appears to be “Summer is Definitely Here” day. After a few weeks of very temperate weather, Mother Nature has slowly been during up the heat these past few days. Nothing like the blast-furnace temperatures that other places have been experiencing, but just enough to mark the end of some of the less hardy flowering potted plants that sit on my back deck.
Apparently those “likes full sun” indicators on the pot labels were not completely accurate. Time to move the remaining pots into the shade out under the trees for a bit and see how that goes. I won’t be able to see them from my desk as I’m working (which is why they were on the deck), but at least they’ll still be alive.
Today’s a regular work day for me, with a dentist appointment this afternoon (ugh!), but somewhere along the line I definitely plan to spend some time on the elliptical and to take a shot at today’s writing prompt and random words.
Care to join me?
For those of you working away on a story (whether a first draft or a polished version on its way to publication), if you’re not feeling random, we’d love to hear a bit – whether it’s a scene, a paragraph, or even a phrase that you are especially pleased with and would like to share.
If you don’t have a story in progress, or just want to work on something new, I hope either today’s random words or writing prompt will catch your creative fancy.
Ready?
Prompt: Road Trip!
Feel free to interpret the prompt any way you choose (or ignore it completely) and include any (or all) of the following random words:

I look forward to seeing your stories in the comments. If you’re not feeling in the writing mood today, or don’t have time, feel free to post suggestions you might have for future writing prompts. Ideas are always welcome.
Happy writing to all!
